HOW WE DO IT
Plastic Waste - 90% Fresh Air
Anyone involved in plastic recycling will confirm the above statement, which makes transporting it long distances both environmentally and economically non-viable. They will also be able to tell you that there are 100's of different plastic types, which means they have to be segregated if they are to be effectively recycled.
At Ecopoly we train our staff in identifying the materials when sorting on conveyor belts to give a near perfect feed stock for our process:
- The material is sorted into types, clear/colour.
- The material is then fed on conveyor directly into machine (see video).
- If material is heavily soiled, it is ground into flakes, washed, and dried before moving to the recycling machine.
- It is then heated to over 200c into liquid and passed through filters removing paper, dirt, gas from printing etc.
- Finally cut into pellets and stored in silos for packaging in bulk bags.
Great care is taken in removing non-plastic and items, cardboard, paper, including plastic tape which is not of the same family, and will lower the quality of the final product. Finally we test the material if required on our own extruders for clarity, tensile strength, and other properties. Only then is the material ready for delivery to our clients.
